Nancy Greene Program (Recreational)
The Nancy Greene Ski League is a national program, inaugurated shortly after Nancy Greene Raine’s success at the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Winter Games. Since then, the program has been successful in introducing thousands of children to alpine skiing. Many of Canada’s top international skiers received their early training in Nancy Greene Ski League programs.
Alberta Alpine’s program for entry-level skiers four to ten years of age is the Banff Lodging Company Nancy Greene Ski League. The program introduces children to basic ski techniques and skills, basic safety rules, and teamwork. Enjoyment of the sport and the mountain environment is also emphasized. Ski races are available to Nancy Greene athletes and attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory.

Volunteer Commitment
It is essential for the ski club to have at least one volunteer per family for every event and race held or attended by the club. The sport of ski racing is a “many hands” sport which enables us to be the thriving club and community that we are. There are volunteer positions for both skier and non-skier. Anything you don’t know, we can teach you.
Some examples of race volunteer positions are listed below:
- Registration or Race Administration
- Race and Course Officials and Support Crew
- Timing
- Hospitality
- Kid Wranglers
- Setup including install netting

Payments are made in April.
